Blades for Vestas' 8MW Wind Turbine Transported to Østerild, Denmark

This week Vestas transported the three 80m blades for the world’s most powerful wind turbine to the Danish national test centre for large wind turbines in Østerild.

The blades were produced at Vestas’ R&D facilities on the Isle of Wight, UK, and were transported from Hanstholm in northern Denmark to Østerild.

The V164-8.0 MW will be the world’s most powerful wind turbine, with the longest ever blade manufactured by Vestas. Each blade weighs approximately 35 tonnes and the diameter of the root is 4.6m. The rotor diameter of 164m is larger than the London Eye (135m).
