Towards the end of 2012 4,620 MW of offshore wind has been installed globally, approximately 2% of the total global installed wind power schemes. 90% of this offshore wind is currently installed in Northern Europe, with the UK installing its 1000th offshore turbine. There is growing interest globally in offshore wind projects in the USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and even India. This course provides a two day introduction to the many aspects of offshore wind power and the current and potential markets and technological challenges presented within the industry. As with all Green Power Academy courses, the day will run in a highly interactive and informal manner, with plenty of time for questions and discussion. We cover many technology and some financial principles, but all are presented in a clear fashion such that no prior technical knowledge or expertise is assumed. The course is not designed for experienced offshore wind experts.
