The installation and longer term environmental protection of the power cables which interconnect offshore wind turbines has proved challenging, both technically and logistically. It has drawn in part, on experience from both oil and gas pipe and umbilical installation and the earlier telecoms cable practice, it has also needed to rethink some aspects where the requirements are subtly different.

This evening’s meeting aims to highlight some of these challenges and illustrate some of industry’s responses in the provision and development of practical engineered solutions to these challenges.
