Following the IEEE Green Technology Conference, IEEE Region 5 will host its annual business meeting and student competitions. Throughout Region 5 IEEE Student Branches are invited to participate in one of the many student competitions supported by the region members. The Region 5 Student Paper Contest provides an opportunity for students to submit technical research papers for peer review and publishing. The student ethics contest will challenge the students and help them understand the boundaries of ethics in the electro-technical profession. Student teams participating in the student design contest will have the opportunity to exercise their intellectual prowess to design a solution to a realistic problem presented to them at the beginning of the day. The student teams who have been working to develop robots will meet head-to-head in friendly rivalry at the robotics competition. The Louisiana State University student branch will also host a Student Professional Awareness Conference.
