Deepwater Wind Could Complete Block Island Wind Energy Project in 2015

Block Island offshore wind farm developer sad that the completion date for this project is likely to be pushed into 2015, reports Associated Press.

However, the company did not exclude the possibility of completing the project in 2014.

Deepwater wind is awaiting federal approvals to commence the construction of, what could be, the USA’s first offshore wind farm.

Deepwater’s project comprises of 5 wind turbines that would be erected 3 miles off Block Island.

This 30-megawatt demonstration-scale offshore wind farm, will be connected to both Block Island and mainland Rhode Island via the bi-directional Block Island Transmission System (BITS).
