France Untangles Offshore Renewables Rules

The French Senate has adopted conclusions of the Joint Committee on a draft bill for the simplification of business life, which will vastly benefit the offshore renewables sector through some of its sections.

The industry has welcomed several simplification measures, particularly provisions aimed at creating a unique authorization regime for offshore renewable energy.

Section 18 of the Act authorizes the French Government to make a single decision, valid on public maritime domain up to 12 nautical miles for renewable energy production facilities offshore, electrical connections to these facilities and power delivery stations associated with them, as well as the connection of renewable energy installations at sea to public network structures.
