The Oregon Department of Energy will host a webinar on offshore wind basics on January 22 from 2-3 p.m. The intended audience for this webinar is decision-makers, energy industry practitioners, utilities and those knowledgeable about renewable energy.

The webinar will feature two presentations:

Bruce Hamilton, Navigant Consulting, will present a summary of the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2014 Offshore Wind Market and Economic Analysis Report, coordinated by Navigant. The presentation will discuss the state of the offshore wind sector internationally, in the Atlantic, policy developments and an economic impact case study.

Chris Elkinton, DNV-GL, will present an overview of offshore wind technologies, including turbines, anchoring and mooring, power cabling and the development trajectory for deep-water floating wind.

Rebecca O’Neil of the Oregon Department of Energy will moderate the webinar.
