Taking a medium scenario for offshore wind, the UK can expect to reach 18GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2020 and 45GW by 2050. These achievements will only be possible through cost reduction measures and greater supply of local manufacture and engineering. Thousands of turbines will be installed in the next few decades and a number of wind turbine OEMs have stated that UK manufacturing supply chains will be part of their business plans.
