WAB
Shipping companies, experts in logistics, and port authorities, all working in the maritime industry and essential for the development of wind energy at sea, are also members of WAB. The association’s work consists of the promotion of cooperation, internationalization, innovation and qualification within the wind industry. The WAB takes a stand on legislative initiatives and represents the interests of its members towards politics. The association helps its members by organizing international delegation trips, trade fair visits and joint stands at national and international trade fairs. The WAB promotes qualification in the wind industry by offering workshops and seminars. The WAB encourages cooperation within the wind energy industry.
WAB organizes regular meetings, WAB working groups, the annual WAB beginners seminar, the Legal Offshore Day, as well as many other events requested by WAB members. WAB is a cluster and member of the ‘gocluster’
programme which are characterized by excellent management structures, efficient processes, efficiency and WAB e.V. has received the ‘Silver Label’ of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI). With the ‘Silver Label’, the member of the ‘go-cluster’ programme documents that it is constantly and successfully implementing the action and optimization proposals of the benchmarking. The ‘Silver Label’ is, like the very demanding ‘Gold Label’, a proof of quality for the cluster management, and confirms a very high level of innovative power. High-performance clusters exist in traditional industries as well as in high tech and the new emerging industrial sectors.
WAB is one of 11 partners in the Interreg project Inn2POWER (November 2016 – December 2020) that represents the platform for the offshore wind clusters of the North Sea Region to work together on the shared goal of providing focused support for SMEs and bringing their SMEs across the borders to engage them in innovative business collaborations. The overall objective of Inn2POWER is to improve innovation capacity of SMEs and to facilitate access to the Offshore Wind industry by creating the appropriate supportive conditions. Inn2POWER aims to:
• Connect and strengthen regional OWI clusters of SMEs
by supporting SMEs to enter new transnational markets
and by developing transnational SME collaboration
• Facilitate access to harbor logistics and testing facilities
for SMEs in the offshore wind industry
• Improve the workforce for SMEs in the offshore wind
industry
WAB e.V. annually organizes the WINDFORCE. The conference is known as the class reunion of the offshore wind industry. WINDFORCE Conference has developed both nationally and internationally into the leading industry meeting place for offshore wind energy. The next WINDFORCE Conference takes place in Bremen from 12 to 13 May 2019. The international conference has been bringing together start-ups, companies and industrial groups in the wind industry for over a decade.
