59 out of the 63 units installed have been commissioned, BOWL said. The turbine installation is expected to be completed in Spring 2019.

Swire Blue Ocean’s jack-up is loading the turbines in sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base, and installing them at the site in Outer Moray Firth.

The commissioning works are carried out using a combination of the walk-to-work vessel Island Crown and crew transfer vessels Fob Swath 3 and Seacat Resolute.

Offshore Transformer Modules (OTMs)

Siemens Transmission and Distribution Ltd (STDL) is carrying out limited commissioning works on the wind farms two offshore transformer modules (OTMs) throughout the winter 2018/19. BOWL electrical commission teams are continuing energisation and switching operations on both OTMs, the developer said.

BOWL, the developer of the GBP 2.6 billion project, is a joint venture partnership between SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and Red Rock Power Limited (25%).
