First Borkum Riffgrund 2 Foundation Stands Complete

The first complete monopile foundation has been installed on the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, Ørsted, the owner and developer of the wind farm, said.

Following the installation of the first monopile earlier this week, Jan De Nul’s jack-up vessel Vole au vent has now installed the first transition piece at the site 40 kilometres northwest of the island of Borkum.

In total, Vole au vent will install 36 monopile foundations at the wind farm.

Once fully commissioned in 2019, Borkum Riffgrund 2 will comprise 56 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines installed on 20 suction bucket jacket foundations and 36 monopile foundations
