Californian Offshore Wind Project to Be Discussed

Trident Winds will hold a public information session on its proposed offshore wind project off the city of Morro Bay, California.

The company is proposing an offshore wind farm comprising 100 floating turbines approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the coast, which would use the city’s outfall to hook to the electric grid at the PG&E substation.

At this time, the project is still in the initial planning and outreach phases and has not received any permits.

A Memorandum of Cooperation has been executed following the approval by the City Council on October 13, 2015, outlining the potential use of the outfall and requests from the City for Trident Winds to engage in significant public outreach on the project.

Trident Winds is holding the public information session as an early opportunity for the public to learn about the project and offer feedback. The session will be held on 10 December at Veterans’ Memorial Hall in Morro Bay.
