EWEA’s Statement on Recent Tragic Events in Paris – EWEA 2015 Taking Place as Planned

In light of the recent tragic events in Paris, France, the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), which is organizing its annual exhibition and conference in Paris from 17 to 20 November, has released the following statement:

The European Wind Energy Association expresses its sincere condolences and sympathies to all those touched by the tragic events that unfolded in Paris on Friday 13 November. Our hearts and thoughts go out to them and the people of France at this very difficult time.

EWEA has been working closely with the local authorities and they have advised us to move forward with preparations for EWEA 2015 as intended. We have therefore decided that the EWEA 2015 event in the French capital this week must go ahead as planned.

We are taking all the necessary security and logistical measures to ensure the utmost safety and care is taken throughout the four-day event. I would like to assure everyone that EWEA has not taken this decision lightly, but we feel it is essential that we stand firm in the face of such adversity. We must continue as we mean to go on.

Giles Dickson,

Chief Executive Officer, EWEA
