A2SEA to Install Race Bank Turbines

A2SEA is to provide their specialist purpose-built offshore installation vessel SEA CHALLENGER to install the 91 Siemens Wind Power 6MW turbines at Dong Energy’s the 580MW Race Bank offshore wind farm from early 2017.

”Signing the contract for Race Bank OWF is a very important milestone for us. A2SEA is an acknowledged and trusted player in the offshore wind installation market, and our experienced crew both on board SEA CHALLENGER and at our office is ready for yet another well-planned and safe operation,” says Jens Frederik Hansen, CEO at A2SEA.

David Summers, DONG Energy’s EPC Director for the Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm project, says: “We are very happy to have made this important step with another key contract. A2SEA is a strong, well known partner and we are looking forward to executing the turbine installation together beginning in 2017. Both of companies are committed to achieving this in a safe and efficient manner.”

The Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm is located approximately 17 miles off Blakeney Point on the North Norfolk coast.

When fully commissioned in 2018, the Race Bank OWF will provide enough electricity to power 400,000 UK homes.
