‘Bold Tern’ Reaches Milestone – Butendiek Half Way There

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s installation vessel Bold Tern reached a milestone on March 19, when turbine number 40 was successfully installed at the Butendiek offshore wind farm – bringing the installation campaign to its halfway mark.

Bold Tern will continue to install the remaining 40 turbines throughout the spring.

The offshore wind farm Butendiek is located west of Sylt in the German North Sea. The wind farm comprises 80 Siemens 3.6MW turbines with a total output of 288MW, and once completed it will supply around 370,000 households with renewable energy.

The project also reached another important milestone in February, as the first wind turbines started operation and the wind park delivered its first kilowatt hours into the public grid.
