TÜV SÜD has acquired UK Project Management Support Services Limited (PMSS), continuing its growth strategy in the field of renewable energy. PMSS has resources of 70 staff and a revenue of almost 8 Mio. Euros in 2011 and offers comprehensive consulting services to wind-turbine owners, manufacturers and investors.

“We are convinced of the rapid expansion of renewable energy worldwide and expect growth to be most pronounced in wind power and photovoltaics”, says Karsten Xander, Member of the Board of Management of TÜV SÜD AG . Over recent years, TÜV SÜD has massively expanded its global services portfolio in these two areas, as evidenced most recently by the opening of its Offshore Wind Services department in Hamburg in 2011. By acquiring PMSS, the international testing and certification company is complementing its portfolio of renewable energy solutions. “The acquisition of PMSS further strengthens our position in the UK, Germany, the Benelux countries and the USA”, adds Dr Boris Gehring, Head of TÜV SÜD’s Industry Service Division . “This provides us with an excellent basis for tapping into further international markets.”

PMSS, headquartered in Romsey, New Hampshire, UK, has subsidiaries in Germany and the US. Its range of services covers project development and realization, due diligence reviews, planning and control of occupational health & safety, and environmental protection measures for wind power – particularly offshore wind farms. Linking this special expertise with TÜV SÜD’s know-how and experience throughout the energy industry and the company’s international network creates a global leading supplier of knowledge services for wind power projects.

“The acquisition of PMSS widens our service offering and extends our client base”, says Michael Valente, CEO of TÜV SÜD in the UK . “We highly esteem the in-depth expertise and comprehensive industry knowledge of our new colleagues, which we will use to benefit our clients and protect them against critical situations in new projects.”

“We are delighted to be part of the TÜV SÜD Group” , explains Alan Chivers, President and CEO of PMSS . “TÜV SÜD’s principles of reliability, safety, quality and environmental protection are an ideal combination for our own objectives. We see great prospects in further expanding our business internationally and providing even wider-ranging services through the TÜV SÜD network.”
