Pacifico Energy Vietnam has launched an offshore technical survey campaign for two projects with a combined capacity of 1.8 GW, following the granting of sea-survey licences by Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
The campaign, carried out in cooperation with Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), will begin with geophysical surveys to assess seabed topography, geology and site conditions for the 500 MW Nam Bo and 1.3 GW Nam Trung Bo 3 offshore wind projects.
Pacifico Energy received a survey licence for the 500 MW project in February 2026, followed by approval for Nam Trung Bo 3 in September, planned off Lam Dong Province.
The survey licences allow Pacifico Energy to carry out site investigations and prepare the projects for subsequent design, investment and permitting steps.
The US-based company said the two projects could attract more than USD 6 billion (around EUR 5.4 billion) in investment and create opportunities for Vietnamese companies across the offshore wind supply chain, including surveying, ports and logistics, fabrication, construction and operations.
Pacifico Energy has been present in Vietnam since 2017, where it operates the 40 MW Mui Ne solar plant and the 30 MW Sunpro wind farm. It has identified offshore wind as a long-term strategic focus.
The company is also developing three projects as part of the 3.2 GW Jindo Offshore Wind Project Cluster in South Korea. The cluster comprises the 420 MW Myeong Ryang, the 990 MW Manho and the 1.8 GW Jindo Baram project.
