Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Envision Energy has unveiled its new EN-252/16.7 offshore wind turbine at WindEnergy Hamburg in Germany.
The turbine is based on the company's Model Z platform and has a 252-metre rotor diameter. According to Envision, its new model can deliver between 1 and 2 per cent higher annual energy production (AEP), allow approximately 10 per cent fewer turbines to be used on gigawatt-scale projects and reduce the levelised cost of energy (LCoE) by an estimated 2 to 4 per cent, depending on project conditions.
The company said the turbine has undergone extensive validation for operation in extreme wind conditions, weak grids and grid-fault conditions.
This June, Envision began deliveries of its EN-226/8.X MW turbines for REE Group’s 128 MW Vinh Long nearshore wind project in Vietnam.
In August, the company was awarded a new contract by REE, under which Envision will supply 25 EN-226/8.X YE wind turbines for the Phu Cuong 1A and 1B nearshore wind project, with batch deliveries scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027 and grid connection targeted for October 2027.
