In order to deliver this contract for Scottish Power Renewables, VolkerInfra is leveraging the strengths of the wider VolkerWessels group, by working with Visser & Smit Hanab.

The work includes connecting the duct routes for export cables from the 714MW East Anglia One wind farm at 20 locations within the Ipswich and Felixstowe areas via directional drilling and auger boring.

Work is due to begin shortly and will run through to September 2018, with ducts being installed through drilled bores ranging in size from 225mm through to 800mm in diameter and 50m to 1,000m in length.

“We are delighted to be awarded this contract by Scottish Power which demonstrates our unique end to end service offering and expertise within this specialist field. We understand the different techniques required at each separate location, and have a full range of specialist in-house plant and equipment to complete the work,” James Worth, project director, said.

Following a review of the UK market and using this project as a catalyst, VolkerStevin, of which VolkerInfra is a division, will be formalising its working relationship with Visser & Smit Hanab by the creation of a new joint venture, VolkerTrenchless Solutions, which will be formally launched in the New Year.
