Germany: Installation of Topside for Riffgat Offshore Wind Farm Completed

The offshore installation of the topside for Riffgat wind farm has been completed on Saturday, February 16th 2013.

The topside, delivered on turnkey basis by Strukton Hollandia JointVenture, left the fabrication yard in Krimpen aan de IJssel one week ago.

The topside has been lifted on board the SHL heavy lift vessel “Oleg Strashnov” early last week. The vessel sailed away mid last week and arrived at the site last Thursday. The offshore installation commenced upon arrival and has been completed last Saturday late afternoon. The hook up is currently in progress and it is expected that offshore commissioning will completed within a few weeks.

The installation of the wind turbines by an other contractor will be started on short term basis and it is expected that the wind farm will supply renewable energy to the grid before summer this year. The wind farm owned by EWE Energie AG and ENOVA Unternehmensgruppe and a rated power of 108MW will produce energy for more then 100.000 German households.
