Ørsted and Skyborn Renewables have fully commissioned their 704 MW Revolution Wind offshore wind farm in the US, which is now delivering electricity to Rhode Island and Connecticut under its offtake contracts.

The first of the 65 Siemens Gamesa SG 11.0-200 DD turbines was installed in September 2024, with the installation campaign completed in September 2026 when the final units were put in place.

The project reached full commissioning in October, following the completion of turbine installation and turbine commissioning activities, according to information shared in Ørsted’s Q3 2026 report, published on 5 November.

Revolution Wind began delivering electricity to the New England grid in March 2026. The offshore wind farm is contracted to supply 400 MW to Rhode Island and 304 MW to Connecticut, and is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 350,000 homes and businesses across the two states.

The full commissioning comes amid a new legal challenge from the Trump administration, as the US Department of Justice and the Department of the Interior filed a motion this October, asking a federal court to send the project’s construction and operations plan (COP) approval back to the government for review.

In its Q3 results, Ørsted also reported progress on its 924 MW Sunrise Wind project offshore New York, where installation of all turbine foundations has been completed. Wind turbine and inter-array cable installation, as well as commissioning of the offshore converter station, are underway.

The company expects to begin commissioning Sunrise Wind’s turbines around the end of 2026, with full commissioning still scheduled for the second half of 2027. The project, wholly owned by Ørsted, will comprise 84 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW turbines and connect to the New York electricity grid.
