SSE Renewables has named Seaway7 as the preferred supplier for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of wind turbine foundations and inter-array cables for its 1.4 GW Berwick Bank B offshore wind project in Scotland.
The agreement, which covers the design, supply and installation of the foundations and subsea inter-array cables, remains subject to a final contract award, as SSE is targeting a final investment decision (FID) on Berwick Bank B in 2027.
The planned work is expected to support 465 jobs across the UK, including 400 in Scotland, according to SSE. Seaway7 is expected to create around 160 direct roles, leading the work from its Aberdeen base, while another 105 jobs are anticipated in the UK supply chain. A further 200 direct and indirect jobs are expected through foundation marshalling at a Scottish port, to be announced later.
SSE said the Seaway7 contract brings the number of jobs created or supported through its Berwick Bank B commitments to around 600 across the UK, including more than 500 in Scotland. These figures also include plans for an operations and maintenance base at Montrose Port, where 100 long-term jobs and around 30 construction roles are said to be created.
Berwick Bank B is the second phase of SSE’s 4.1 GW Berwick Bank offshore wind project in the outer Firth of Forth, located around 38 kilometres off the Scottish Borders coast. The Scottish government granted consent for the full project in July 2025, and the 1.4 GW B phase secured a 20-year contract for difference (CfD) in the UK’s Allocation Round 7 in January 2026.
The preferred supplier agreement between SSE and Seaway7 builds on the companies’ previous collaboration on the Beatrice and Seagreen offshore wind farms in Scotland, as well as their ongoing work on Dogger Bank in England, according to SSE.
