Hampidjan Advant has signed an agreement with Cadeler to manufacture and supply lifting slings for the construction of the East Anglia Two offshore wind farm off England's east coast.
The order is one of the largest single contracts in Hampidjan Advant's history, the Norway-based company said on 8 October. Cadeler will use the lifting equipment aboard its new installation vessel, Wind Ace, to install East Anglia Two foundations and turbines.
The slings will be made from high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE) fibre. The largest units will measure 190 millimetres in diameter and 64 metres in length, with a minimum breaking load of 4,000 tonnes.
The agreement follows cooperation between the two companies on Ørsted's Hornsea 3 offshore wind project earlier this year, for which Hampidjan Advant supplied lifting equipment for foundation installation.
East Anglia Two is being developed by ScottishPower Renewables more than 30 kilometres off the Suffolk coast in the southern North Sea.
The 960 MW offshore wind farm will comprise 64 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD turbines installed on monopile foundations that will be supplied by Sif and Smulders, with Smulders also contracted for the project’s offshore substation (OSS).
Under firm contracts signed in 2024, Cadeler will provide the transportation and installation of all 64 wind turbine generators and their foundations. Offshore works are scheduled to commence in 2027, with Wind Ace supporting the project alongside one of Cadeler’s O-class vessels.
