UK-based engineering company SLPE has been awarded a contract by German energy company EnBW to provide wind turbine foundation engineering services for the 1 GW Dreekant offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
Dreekant is being developed in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), in the N-12.3 area approximately 120 kilometres northwest of Heligoland. EnBW secured the development rights for the site in June 2024 and plans to submit the project’s approval application in 2027, with the final investment decision expected in 2029.
Under the contract, SLPE will provide engineering services covering the concept, front-end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design of the wind turbine foundations. The company is also expected to support the project during fabrication, installation and commissioning following completion of the detailed design.
The contract builds on SLPE’s previous work on the Inch Cape offshore wind farm in Scotland, where the company delivered the turbine foundation concept design before securing the detailed design contract in 2021.
In 2024, EnBW awarded Jörss-Blunck-Ordemann (JBO) contracts for geotechnical work and pre-FEED design for Dreekant.
The 1 GW Dreekant offshore wind farm is planned to enter operation in 2032, according to a project timeline EnBW shared earlier.
