Four offshore substation topsides and four modular support frames for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm have departed Vietnam for Poland following the completion of the load-out and sail-away campaign at PTSC Mechanical & Construction’s (PTSC M&C) yard in Vung Tau.

PTSC M&C said on 14 September that the shipment marks its first offshore substation delivery from Vietnam to Europe.

The company is delivering the substations in a consortium with Denmark’s Semco Maritime, which signed a contract with Baltica 2 developers PGE and Ørsted in June 2023.

The scope covers four substation platforms and four modular support frames, with Semco Maritime responsible for the high- and medium-voltage, SCADA and auxiliary systems and PTSC M&C carrying out the fabrication at its Vung Tau facility. Each substation has a capacity of 375 MW and is equipped with two transformers.

The consortium began manufacturing the substation platforms at PTSC M&C’s yard in November 2024.
