ZTT Launches New Cable-Laying Vessel for Offshore Wind

China’s ZTT Submarine Cable & System has launched Lan Hai Ling Hang, a new self-propelled cable-laying vessel (CLV) for offshore wind and subsea power interconnection cabling work.

According to the company, the vessel is equipped with a 16,000-tonne cable carousel, a DP2 dynamic positioning system and a dual-cable laying system, allowing it to operate in far-offshore and deepwater environments.

Once formally delivered, Lan Hai Ling Hang will be deployed to install inter-array and export cables at deepwater offshore wind farms in Chinese coastal waters.

ZTT announced the start of construction of the new-generation CLV in August 2025, when the company said the vessel would be deployed on offshore wind, island interconnection and regional grid expansion projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

The CLV measures 139.8 metres in length and 38 metres in beam, features diesel-electric propulsion, a helicopter platform, large coaxial turntables, and dual-launch channels.

With a 16,000-tonne cable-carrying capacity, Lan Hai Ling Hang has an annual installation capability of more than 1,000 kilometres.
