Cadeler’s New Offshore Wind O&M Platform Bags EUR 20+ Million Contract in Taiwan

Contracts & Tenders

Cadeler’s service and maintenance unit, Nexra, has signed a firm contract valued at more than EUR 20 million for the execution of an operations and maintenance (O&M) campaign in Taiwan, the company said on 9 February, leaving the client unnamed.

The campaign, which will be performed across two offshore wind farms in Taiwan, will commence in March 2026 and run for 3-4 months. The work will be carried out by Cadeler’s wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) Wind Maker.

Cadeler established Nexra in 2025 in response to what the company says is a rapid expansion of operational wind turbines in the 10–15 MW segment. Nexra is using the vessels Zaratan, Wind Scylla and Wind Keeper, and has the flexibility to use additional vessels from Cadeler’s fleet as needed.

“This contract underlines Nexra’s strength in execution and flexibility to respond quickly to client needs in the operational phase of offshore wind farms. In securing near-term campaigns such as this, Nexra demonstrates its ability to drive utilisation across Cadeler’s fleet, while continuing to deliver the reliability and technical expertise our clients expect”, said Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler.

The Wind Maker jack-up vessel was delivered to Cadeler by South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean in January 2025 and was deployed on Ørsted’s Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind projects in Taiwan shortly after delivery.

Outfitted with a 2,600-tonne main crane, the jack-up is designed for the installation and maintenance of heavy offshore wind turbine foundations and components in water depths of up to 65 metres. The vessel can install turbines with capacities of up to 20 MW, with the flexibility to operate using either liquefied natural gas (LNG) or ammonia as alternate fuels.
