Poland’s Orlen Neptun Gets Green Light for Baltic East Offshore Transmission Infrastructure

Project Updates

Poland’s Orlen Neptun has secured permits for the offshore transmission infrastructure for the 1 GW Baltic East offshore wind farm.

The newly secured permits allow for the installation of artificial islands, structures, facilities, and submarine cables.

The 1 GW Baltic East offshore wind farm is planned to be built within the 46.E site, located close to the Baltic Power project, currently under construction in the Polish Baltic Sea.

In July, the Polish wind developer selected three local companies to explore the geological conditions of the seabed within the Baltic East area.

The survey, expected to be completed by the end of the year, will be carried out at a depth of approximately 35 metres.

The Orlen Group plans to achieve 12.8 GW of installed capacity from renewable energy sources by 2035.

By securing five new locations for offshore wind farms, the company’s generation potential may soon increase by approximately 5.2 GW, reaching a total of about 6.4 GW of installed offshore wind capacity.
