PGE and Ørsted have signed a lease agreement with Istrana sp.z o.o. for the future T5 terminal in the Port of Gdansk that will be used for the storage, pre-assembly, and offshore installation of turbine components for Baltica 2, the first stage of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm in Poland.
The lease will cover the period from the fourth quarter of 2026 (when construction work is planned to be completed) initially through the end of 2028.
The lease covers the entire T5 area, which spans 21.3 hectares, with nearly half of it designated as high-load capacity zones essential for offshore wind projects.
The concept and shape of the terminal should allow the simultaneous use of the total length of quays comprising two loading berths for jack-up installation vessels, an unloading quay, and a ramp for unloading ro-ro transport vessels.
PGE and Ørsted, who are developing the Baltica 2 project, said that Gdansk has very good navigational conditions and a favorable location concerning the area where their first joint offshore wind farm will be built.

This will create one of the most important and modern installation terminals in the Baltic Sea. The marshalling port in Gdansk is a great opportunity for the development of the domestic supply chain for offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea “, said Dariusz Marzec , President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
Istrana won the tender for the lease of water-covered land located within the administrative boundaries of the Port of Gdansk, on which an installation terminal for offshore wind farms will be built in the coming years.
Advanced preparations for the construction of the terminal are underway, said PGE and Ørsted.

The 1.5 GW Baltica 2 is part of the 2.5 GW Baltica Offshore Wind Farm which will also comprise the 1 GW Baltica 3.
PGE and Ørsted have also already contracted all the necessary components for the project and signed contracts for the installation of foundations, turbines, and cables. The partners also picked the general contractor for the onshore connection infrastructure.

The offshore wind farm will consist of 107 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW wind turbines and four offshore substations , installed on monopile foundations.
The developers plan to complete the construction of Baltica 2 by the end of 2027 and Baltica 3 by 2030.
