Offshore Platforms

Dutch company HSM Offshore Energy has entered into a long-term lease agreement with its compatriot Hollandia to use its Stormpolder yard in Krimpen aan den IJssel. The move is part of HSM Offshore Energy’s expansion plans and the growing order book, according to the company, which has several offshore wind and offshore grid projects in its portfolio and pipeline.

With the additional fabrication facility, HSM Offshore Energy plans to meet the increasing demand in the offshore renewable market, focusing on the offshore wind, gas, carbon capture & storage (CCS) and hydrogen segments in the North Sea and Baltic Sea areas, the company says.

In offshore wind, the Dutch engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) solutions provider has been contracted on RWE’s Thor offshore wind farm and the Ostwind 3 and Gennaker 1 & 2 projects by German transmission system operator (TSO) 50Hertz, among others.

The company is also building the N05-A gas platform, the first electrified gas production platform which will run entirely on offshore wind power, for ONE-Dyas’s project in the North Sea.

HSM Offshore Energy rolled out the topside of the N05-A gas platform this April.

Commenting on the expansion of the fabrication capacity, Hans Leerdam, Commercial Director of HSM Offshore Energy, said: “The lease of the Stormpolder yard is a step forward in our growth strategy. With our growing order book and our focus on the offshore energy mix, it is an important milestone for us to continue supporting our valuable clients with additional yard capacity and extended know-how of our employees.”

According to the company, the Stormpolder yard and office are strategically located between the rivers Noord, Nieuwe Maas and Hollandse IJssel and are easily accessible by road and inland waterways, and have direct access to the North Sea.

The total area of the yard is 30,000m2, of which 4,600m2 are covered including a brand-new main platform assembly hall, HSM Offshore Energy says.
