In March 2021, North Star won the initial contract for Dogger Bank A and Dogger Bank B following a competitive tender for the design and delivery of three SOVs in a deal worth an estimated GBP 270 million.

Each of the four Dogger Bank SOVs are contracted on a 10-year agreement, with three additional one-year options.

The VARD 4 12 design is developed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway. The SOV will be 78 metres in length with a beam of 19 metres and have accommodation for 60 persons in single cabins.

A few days ago, North Star held a naming ceremony for the Grampian Tyne SOV that will be deployed at the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank Wind Farm to support operations and maintenance work.

Once fully completed, the offshore wind farm will be the largest in the world, producing enough electricity to power six million British homes.
