Siemens Gamesa Starts Producing 108-Metre Wind Turbine Blades in UK
Siemens Gamesa has started the production of the first 108-metre wind turbine blade at its factory in Hull, the UK.
The B108 IntegralBlades are one of the key components of Siemens Gamesa’s flagship offshore wind turbine – the SG 14-222 DD.
”Over the past year, we’ve doubled output at the Hull facility, allowing our team to scale up manufacturing and produce these spectacular blades for the SG 14-222 DD turbine,” Siemens Gamesa said in a social media post.
Siemens Gamesa will supply 60 of its SG 14-222 DD wind turbines for the 882 Moray West wind farm offshore Scotland.
All of the 180 B108 IntegralBlades for the project will be manufactured in Hull. The installation of the first wind turbines at the site is scheduled for 2024.
Siemens Gamesa will also supply 100 SG 14-222 DD units for RWE’s 1.4 GW Sofia wind farm on Dogger Bank. The installation of the wind turbines on this project is scheduled to start in 2025.
