Sif to Deliver Primary TP Steel for French Offshore Wind Farm

Sif Group has received an order to supply primary steel for the transition pieces for the Iles d’Yeu et Noirmoutier offshore wind project in France.

As reported on 14 December, Eiffage, through Eiffage Métal and its Belgian subsidiary Smulders, has been awarded a contract by Éoliennes en Mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN) to manufacture 62 transition pieces for the 496 MW offshore wind farm.

Sif will produce the primary steel for the transition pieces, which have a maximum diameter of 6 metres and weigh together more than 18,000 tonnes, and deliver it to Smulders in Hoboken, Belgium, for final completion.

The 496 MW Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier, located 11.6 kilometres from the island of Yeu and 16.5 kilometres from Noirmoutier, will feature 62 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines planned to be commissioned by 2025.
