Eiffage to Build Transition Pieces for 496 MW Wind Project Offshore France

Eiffage, through Eiffage Métal and its Belgian subsidiary Smulders, has been awarded a contract by Éoliennes en Mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN) to manufacture 62 transition pieces for the Iles D’Yeu et Noirmoutier wind farm offshore France.

Smulders

Each transition piece will be 29.5 metres high and have a diameter of six metres. The weight of the unit will be just over 360 tonnes including secondary steel structures.

The secondary steel will be manufactured at the Smulders facilities in Poland before being transported to Belgium where the transition pieces will be assembled at the Hoboken site.

Production will start in the spring of 2023, with delivery commencing from early 2024 to mid-2024.

The 496 MW Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm is located 11.6 kilometres from the island of Yeu and 16.5 kilometres from Noirmoutier.

The project will feature 62 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines planned to be commissioned by 2025.

Atlantique Offshore Energy will supply the substation topside, while China-based Dajin Heavy Industry will manufacture and deliver the monopiles for the Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm.
