The goal of this five-year cooperation agreement is to launch an offshore wind research and development (R&D) and training centre under NIC.

This centre will act as a focal point for human resource development, technology transfer, supply chain development, and research to make offshore wind a success in Vietnam, the partners said.

According to the joint press release, this agreement is the first of its kind in Vietnam’s offshore wind industry that will bring together world-leading offshore wind researchers and technology providers with Vietnamese universities, research institutions, and industrial players to deliver custom-made solutions for the Vietnamese offshore wind market.

“Ørsted is proud to join forces with the National Innovation Center to nurture the future talent and technology which will drive Vietnam’s transition to green energy in the decades ahead”, said Sebastian Hald Buhl, Country Manager of Ørsted Vietnam.

“Alongside our partner T&T Group, we are ready to provide resources and knowledge-sharing to enhance local technological capabilities, close the skills gap and support talent to deliver high quality and competitively priced offshore wind for Vietnam”.

Ørsted and T&T Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in September last year to launch a strategic collaboration on offshore wind in Vietnam.
