Stowen Nets Job at Greater Gabbard

SSE, RWE Gather Public Feedback for North Falls Offshore Wind Farm

SSE Renewables and RWE are asking North Essex communities for their feedback on the proposed North Falls offshore wind farm in the North Sea as part of the second round of consultations that are currently underway.

Greater Gabbard wind farm

North Falls, a 50/50 joint venture between SSE Renewables and RWE, is a proposed extension to the existing 504 MW Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm, comprising an offshore array of 150 square kilometres off the East Anglia coast and an onshore grid connection in Tendring, Essex.

Following an initial introductory consultation held in October 2021, this current consultation will present updated proposals on the project, particularly around its onshore infrastructure, and will give local people an opportunity to feed in their views.

There will be an online consultation portal and two webinars as well as a chance to meet the team at five local events in early November being held in Frinton-on-Sea, Tendring, Great Bromley, Thorpe Le Soken, and Ardleigh.

The consultation will run until 9 December this year.

Daniel Harper, North Falls senior consents manager, said that the consultation will give communities the opportunity to share their opinions and local knowledge, which will inform the next phase of development, which is the preparation of the key application document, North Falls Preliminary Environmental Impact Report.

The up to 504 MW North Falls is one of the seven UK offshore wind farm extension projects that secured Agreements for Lease with the Crown Estate in 2020 and one of the four for which RWE was awarded lease agreements by the UK seabed manager.
