US Offshore Wind Farm Entering Construction Phase

Construction work on the 132 MW South Fork wind farm offshore New York is scheduled to start on or about 28 January, South Fork Wind, a joint venture between Ørsted and Eversource Energy, said.

According to the developer, the project has now received necessary permits to install the export cable system onshore and in the New York State waters, as well as the associated interconnection facility in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, Long Island.

The South Fork wind farm will comprise twelve 11 MW Siemens Gamesa turbines installed at the project site some 30 kilometres (19 miles) southeast of Block Island, Rhode Island, and some 56 kilometres (35 miles) east of Montauk Point, New York.
