AqualisBraemar LOC (ABL) has secured a contract to deliver Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) services for the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm.

As part of the contract, ABL will provide expert technical review and approval of documents, operations and vessels relating to both transportation and installation of wind turbine generators, foundations, inter array cables and offshore substation packages.

ABL’s German operations, based in Hamburg, will manage the work, the company said.

“To have such a significant appointment on a major offshore wind project just two years after the opening of ABL Germany is an important milestone for us”, said Emek Ersin Takmaz , general manager at ABL Germany.

“ABL Group has a strong history of supporting offshore wind farm construction providing engineering, advisory and MWS services across different stages of the project life cycle. We are happy to have the full trust of our client Iberdrola and we are looking forward to supporting the project with a world-class service“.

The Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm is located northeast of the Rügen island off the Pomeranian coast in the Baltic Sea in a water depth of 40-45 metres.

The 476 MW project, Iberdrola’s second-largest offshore wind farm in Germany, will comprise 50 wind turbines of 9.525 MW capacity, expected to be commissioned by 2024.

As previously reported, the offshore wind farm’s 50 foundations and the corresponding transition pieces will be manufactured and delivered by EEW SPC and Windar , while the project’s wind turbines will be installed by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier .

The Iemants-Fabricom joint venture is responsible for the manufacturing of all structural elements of the offshore substation and Van Oord is to install foundations and inter-array cables on the German wind farm.
