The demonstration floating wind farm will feature three V164 MHI Vestas 10 MW wind turbines supported by Principle Power’s WindFloat semi-submersible floating foundations.

The turbines will be installed over 16 kilometres off the coast of the Leucate-Le Barcarès area in the Mediterranean Sea in water depths of 65 to 80 metres.

The project is being developed by Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL), a consortium comprising Engie, EDP Renewables, and Caisse des Dépôts.

The commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for 2022.
