EEW Offshore Structures Britain (EEW OSB) has upended the first transition piece for the Hornsea Two offshore wind project in the UK.
In June 2019, Ørsted placed an order with EEW Special Pipe Constructions for 30 transition pieces for the 1.4GW project.
The remaining 135 transition pieces will be manufactured and delivered by Denmark’s Bladt Industries.
EEW OSB’s parent company, EEW, will manufacture and deliver the 165 monopile foundations, which DEME Offshore will transport and install with its new DP3 offshore installation vessel Orion.
Hornsea Two is located 89km north-east of Grimsby and will comprise 165 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines scheduled to be commissioned in 2022.
