Jan De Nul has selected the suppliers of the jacket foundations and the accompanying pin piles for the 376MW Formosa 2 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

Jan De Nul is the EPCI contractor for the project’s foundations and subsea cables.

Following the project financial close reached earlier this week, Jan De Nul awarded Saipem and Sembcorp with contracts to manufacture the pile jacket foundations for the wind farm. The pin piles will be fabricated by EEW SPC.

All jacket components will be manufactured in Asia, Jan De Nul said. The jacket foundations will be installed by Seaway 7.

As reported earlier, the subsea cables will be manufactured and delivered by South Korea’s LS Cable.

Peter De Pooter, Manager Offshore Renewables at Jan De Nul Group, adds: “The foundation fabrication will start later this year with the first pin piles available in Taiwan by mid-2020. LS Cable will supply the subsea cables and as such, all key suppliers and subcontractors have been secured. We will commence the offshore construction in Spring 2020.”

Developed by Macquarie’s Green Investment Group and Swancor RenewableEnergy Company Ltd., Formosa 2 will comprise 47 Siemens 8MW turbines installed on jacket foundations in up to 55m water depth.
