Siemens Gamesa has selected Denmark’s Welcon to manufacture 80 turbine towers for the Borssele 1+2 offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.
The towers are scheduled for delivery from mid-November 2019 to mid-June 2020.
This order brings Welcon’s order backlog for turbine towers to more than DKK 1 billion, the largest order backlog in the company’s history.
Borssele 1+2 wind farm will comprise 94 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines with a combined capacity of 752MW.
The wind farm is being developed by Ørsted some 22km from the coast of the Dutch province of Zeeland.
The commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for the end of 2020.
