Hornsea One Offshore Works In Full Swing
104 out of 174 turbine monopile foundations and 66 out of 174 inter-array cables have been installed on the 1,218MW Hornsea Project One wind farm, Ørsted said.
GeoSea’s jack-up vessel Innovation installed the first of 174 monopiles at the site some 120 kilometres off the Yorkshire coast at the beginning of the year.
Hornsea Project One will comprise 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines which will be connected to three offshore substations and a reactive compensation substation (RCS).
Ørsted recently signed an agreement to sell 50% of the offshore wind farm to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
The companies plan to have the project fully operational in 2020, when it will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
