45 out of 60 Siemens Gamesa 6MW wind turbines have been installed on the 385MW Arkona offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea, a spokesperson for E.ON told Offshore WIND.

”The installation time of the remaining 15 turbines depends on the weather,” the spokesperson said.

GeoSea’s installation vessel Sea Challenger installed the first wind turbine at the site 35 kilometres northeast of the island of Rügen in early July.

The wind farm delivered its first power to the German grid last week. The full commissioning is slated for early 2019.

The EUR 1.2 billion Arkona is s a 50/50 joint venture between E.ON and Norway’s Equinor.

Earlier this month, E.ON and Equinor signed a four-year power purchase agreement with the French utility Engie for the electricity produced on Arkona.
