World Marine Offshore (WMO) has, through its daughter company, recently signed a contract with Navantia Shipyards to provide the onshore and offshore logistics services for the commissioning of the offshore substation on the East Anglia One wind farm.
Under the scope of the contract, WMO has provided a jack-up accommodation vessel for all personnel involved in the offshore commissioning activities, support vessels for all requirements offshore on a 24/7 basis, and helicopter services for emergency evacuation and crew transfers.
The offshore scope includes anti-scour protection and pre-installation survey, with WMO supplying and installing seaweed mats around the legs of the jack-up vessel.
WMO has established an onshore base at the port of Lowestoft offering site offices, integrated warehouse facilities, project management, marine coordination and personnel.
World Marine Offshore Limited (WMO UK), based on the east coast of the UK, is also engaged on the project – providing assistance with local content and knowledge.
WMO CEO Lars Zøhner said: ”The contract for integrated logistics services for East Anglia One is a milestone for the WMO Group of companies, and we are all proud of being part of this offshore renewables project.”
The East Anglia One offshore substation was installed some 59km from the coast of Lowestoft at the end of August.
The substation comprises a 56-metres tall jacket foundation that weighs 2,600 tonnes and a 4,200-tonne topside that will house all the electrical equipment needed to transfer the power from the 714MW offshore wind farm to the UK grid.
