The Seafox 5 jack-up has left the Port of Eemshaven in the Netherlands loaded with the first set of turbine components to be installed on the 396MW Merkur offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

AIS data shows the jack-up departing Eemshaven on Thursday afternoon, 22 February, and arriving on the site the same evening.

Seafox 5 arrived in Eemshaven last week, after undergoing a refit in Damen Verolme Rotterdam (DVR) shipyard in preparation for the Merkur project.

The 151-metre, DP2 jack-up will install 66 GE Haliade 6MW turbines at the site located some 45km north of the island of Borkum.

The wind farm is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, and fully commissioned in 2019.

The owner and developer of the wind farm is Merkur Offshore GmbH, a joint venture between Partners Group, InfraRed Capital Partners, DEME Concessions and Coriolis.
