Nissum Bredning Produces First Power

The Siemens Gamesa 7MW wind turbines on the Nissum Bredning demonstration site in Denmark produced first electricity on Saturday, 17 February, Nissum Brednings Vindmøllelaug said.

The first electricity was produced after a successful inspection of the three cables connecting the wind farm’s four turbines to the Thyborøn substation.

Following the overnight tests, the three wind turbines which had been put into operation were taken out of service the next day until all the cabling work connecting the wind turbines is completed.

The 28MW wind farm which serves as a testbed for Siemens Gamesa’s technology is expected to be fully commissioned in March.

The wind turbines are mounted onto gravity jacket foundations and grid-connected using a new cable and turbine concept with a 66kV voltage.
