DONG Energy has awarded Jan De Nul with a contract for the transport and installation of 36 monopiles and transition pieces for the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in Germany, Jan De Nul reported today.
Jan De Nul will also be in charge of the supply, transport and installation of scour protection for all foundations.
The works will start in first half of 2018, when Jan De Nul will deploy its jack-up Vessel Vole au vent to install the foundations.
Borkum Riffgrund 2 will have a total export capacity of 450MW, and will feature 56 MHI Vestas’ 8MW wind turbines, 20 of which will be sitting on jacket foundations.
The offshore wind farm will be located 54km off the coast of Lower Saxony, next to Borkum Riffgrund 1.
