UK-based renewable energy company RES has appointed Steven Hughes to the position of Global Asset Management Director, a post created to accelerate the company’s growth in this area of the business across a range of low carbon technologies.

Hughes’ new role will encompass all of the company’s global asset management activity, where over 100 people manage more than 2GW of plant for a range of owners in six countries.

Steven Hughes, Global Asset Management Director at RES, said: “By tapping into over 30 years’ experience, our global customers can be confident that they will get the return they expect on their investments. We offer asset management across multiple technologies, across multiple territories, with the promise of first-class compliance. The market is evolving rapidly, with a growing importance on automation and data analysis, and I look forward to delivering a wider of range of services to our customers.”

Having been with RES since 2001, Hughes has worked across different parts of the business from wind turbine technology assessment and contract management, through to procurement and wind energy deployment.

For the past few years, Hughes has focused on growing the UK and Ireland asset management business as new institutional investors entered the market.

“Steven brings a wealth of experience to this role, having been the Director of Generation and Asset Management in the UK and Ireland since 2010. I am confident he will bring relevant knowledge and expertise to all areas of RES’ asset management portfolio and drive the growth of the company. We are all excited for what 2016 has in store and wish Steven success in his new role,” Donald Joyce, Chief Financial Officer at RES, said.
