GeoSea has been awarded a €340m contract to design, fabricate and install 56 steel monopile foundations at RWE’s Galloper offshore wind farm.
The monopiles will be the heaviest that GeoSea has ever installed, weighing more than 1,100 tons. The installation at the offshore site is scheduled for the end of 2016.
The scour protection works for the foundations will be undertaken by Tideway, GeoSea’s sister company, both being part of the DEME Group.
The final investment decision for the Galloper project was reached last week , along with the announcement that the construction will start this month.
The offshore wind farm, located some 27 km off the Suffolk coast, will feature 56 Siemens’ 6MW wind turbines and is expected to be fully operational in 2018.
